Mayflies

Mayflies spend a year awaiting their birth, and then most die after living just one day. Mayflies symbolise the transitoriness and brevity of life.  Albrecht Dürer in his 1495 engraving The Holy Family with the Mayfly to suggest a link between heaven and earth.

Kjung Yu night market serves as a buzzing local hangout, lined with mats for hire, street food sellers and a small fun fair. The market is located along Road 60, an open road without any permanent structures, each stall erects, dismantles and packs up within one evening. The series explore on the transient and impermanence of a place.

This work was produced and presented during Angkor Workshop and Festival [2018] under Kosuke Okahara and Veejay Villafranca.
